Sierra Scarratt has been dancing since the age of three under the guidance of Mary Mele (Knestrick) and began competing at just six years old. She started her dance journey at a local afterschool program and, in 2008, followed Mary to the brand new IndepenDANCE Studio when it first opened in 2009. Sierra trained at the studio for 10 years until she graduated from high school. During her competitive dance team experience, she was awarded numerous awards, scholarships and honors. She also enjoyed volunteering at the studio, assisting and jumping in when extra help was needed. Her favorite dance styles include tap, jazz, and contemporary, and she has continued her dance education by taking classes at Santa Fe College. Sierra is thrilled to be back at IndepenDANCE Studio- but this time on the other side- as an employee and instructor. She is so excited for the opportunities ahead, and looks forward to inspiring the next generation of dancers to “Find Their Light”.
